Four teens have been arrested in connection with the golf club bludgeoning of over 900 chickens at a Foster Farms warehouse facility in Caruthers, Calif. on Sept. 20.

Fresno County police have announced the arrests on Wednesday of 18-year old Gabriel Quintero and three minors, two aged 17 and a 15 year old, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The boys allegedly pulled back a wall of the locked chicken shed in order to get to the chickens, which had no way to escape. It is unclear when exactly the killing spree occurred, but the lopsided cockfight left 920 innocent chickens dead.

Local authorities received several tips that led them to the subjects and also monitored social media for leads. Foster Farms had previously estimated the worth of the chickens at $5,000, and in conjunction with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, offered $10,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators.

Breaking down the statistics of the poultry massacre: 230 chickens per person were killed but only one golf club was discovered at the scene. Assuming the burglary happened between midnight and sunrise, that’s 2.27 chickens clubbed per minute.
