Newlywed George Clooney shocked crowds when he made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con in New York Thursday, but perhaps the bigger shock came when Clooney apologized for ruining “Batman & Robin” in 1997, mainly because of the nipples on his batsuit.

“I think since Batman that I’ve been disinvited from Comic-Con for 20 years. I see the comment sections on all you guys. I just met Adam West there [referring to behind the NYCC main stage] and I apologized to him. Sorry about the nipples on the suit. Freeze, Freeze, I apologize for that.”

Clooney has called the movie a “difficult film to be good in” before, and admitted that he was really bad for the role.

“You know that’s not something you really think about when you’re putting it on. You figure all batsuits have nipples and then you realize yours was really the first,” Clooney told Rolling Stone during a January interview.

The “Freeze, Freeze!” reference was about Clooney’s cheesy line to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s villain character, Mr. Freeze.

“It’s not lost on me that I’m spending my honeymoon at Comic-Con,” Clooney, who married human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin recently, said.

The 53-year-old was there for the panel for his latest film, Disney’s “Tomorrowland.”
