You know it’s bad for Alison Lundergan Grimes when Josh Earnest, of all people, is making jokes at her expense.

At Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Earnest, along with the press corps, specifically ABC’s Jon Karl and Fox News’ Ed Henry, had a laugh at the Kentucky Senate candidate’s refusal to answer whether she voted for President Barack Obama.

“On the midterms, what does it say that a Senate candidate like Alison Grimes won’t even say she voted for the president?” Henry asked Earnest.

“I’ll tell you that I voted for the president,” Earnest joked, sparking laughter in the briefing room.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is no longer airing ads on Grimes’ behalf in the Bluegrass State, Roll Call reported Tuesday afternoon.

“Do you believe you’ve violated the sanctity of the ballot box by telling us who you voted for?” Karl asked.

“I’ll leave that for you guys to decide,” Earnest said, smirking.
