President Barack Obama has yet to implement a travel ban on Ebola-stricken nations, despite polls finding a large majority of Americans would support it. But in a “Fox & Friends” interview, famed neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson said he would have implement a ban, calling it “common sense.”

“If you were president,” asked host Steve Doocy, “would you have a travel ban, where people from West Africa could not travel to the United States?” (RELATED: Dr. Ben Carson: Chances Are ’50/50′ I Run For President In 2016)

“Well that would have been one of the first things to do, obviously,” said Carson. “I mean, that’s just common sense. You don’t want to let something that dangerous voluntarily come into your country.”

Carson went even further, and also suggested that anyone who had even been in the region in the preceding 21 days should be quarantined and observed.

“If other countries have seen the wisdom in doing this, why are we the last? I suspect that we will eventually come to this conclusion. But why do we have to be the last ones to do it? I think that’s one of the reasons people are starting to lose confidence in us.”
