Here’s the thing. If you want to privately tell someone you like that you hope they feel better, you send flowers or a fruit basket by calling up FTD. Yes, FTD does scrumptious fresh fruit baskets as well as flowers.
But if you want people to really know you care, and to make quite a statement, you show up at the doors of the White House yourself with flowers and you hand deliver them to a top member of President Obama‘s staff.
As reported this morning by Politico Playbook by Mike Allen (according to NYT, “the man the White House wakes up to,” but also the one who regularly appears on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”) this is what co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and her work husband Joe Scarborough did this week for Obama’s senior advisor Valerie Jarrett. Playbook highlighted a story by a Politico media writer: “SPOTTED – Hadas Gold: “A source emails: MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski at the northwest gate of the White House bringing flowers to Valerie Jarrett, who just got back to Washington after surgery last week in Chicago.”
In a recent White House pool report, Jarrett was seen wearing a neck brace. Her surgery was to repair a degenerative spine condition.
Mika is constantly referring to Jarrett as “my friend” on the show. In fact, back in March when Mika learned that the White House would be hosting the Red Sox, she remarked, “Wait a minute, I’m calling Valerie. I want to go.” Yes, that Valerie.
