Senate Dem Aide: White House ‘Has Sunk From Annoying To Embarrassing’

Font Size:

Sure, the Democrats are taking the rest of us down with them. But that shouldn’t keep us from having a laugh at their expense as their world falls apart and they claw at each other’s throats. Tee-hee!

Josh Kraushaar, National Journal:

The relationship between the White House and Senate Democrats hit a new low Tuesday evening after the administration’s press office released a transcript of first lady Michelle Obama’s appearance in Iowa on behalf of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley. The problem: The subject line of the e-mail referred to Braley as the “Democratic candidate for governor…”

Governor, Senator, whatever. Who can keep track? The White House has better things to do. Like booking Obama’s next tee time.

Indicating the sensitivity of the mistake, top Senate Democratic officials wasted no time lashing out at the Obama administration’s political team in response, suggesting it was acting like a junior varsity operation two weeks before the midterms…

“The ineptitude of the White House political operation has sunk from annoying to embarrassing,” one senior Senate Democratic aide told National Journal.

That’s completely unfair. Why can’t it be both?

As for Obama’s claim that the lurkers support him in e-mail the Democrats fleeing from him in droves are actually big fans of his behind the scenes? My suspicions have proven correct:

Another Senate official told the Washington Post that Obama’s comments were “not devised with any input from Senate leadership.”

He doesn’t need anybody else’s input. He just says whatever he thinks will protect his ego and get him through the next five minutes. Other people’s concerns have nothing to do with it. Consensus reality has nothing to do with it.

The rest of us caught on years ago: Obama screws up everything he touches, and then he lies to cover it up. Now, less than two weeks before the midterms, even his ostensible allies can’t escape it anymore.

Enjoy their mounting panic.
