Eight seconds of a Taylor Swift song from her upcoming album was accidentally released on iTunes Monday, and as a glitch, turned out to be just seconds of static. However, because Taylor Swift is Taylor Swift, people still paid $1.29 for it, and the white noise quickly became the number one most downloaded song in Canada.

From The Independent:

The file appears to have found its way onto the iTunes store by accident, claiming to be “Track 3” off the singer’s upcoming album “1989.”

It’s believed that because Swift released the second (actual) song from her album, titled “Welcome to New York,” fans believed this was another release, and didn’t bother to preview it before paying for it.
