Thieves dug through 125 feet of dirt and solid concrete into a bank strong room in the Indian state of Haryana’s Gohana township, taking money and valuables worth millions of rupees.

Branch manager Davinder Malik said the thieves were able to break into one-fourth of the containers in the strong room, making this one of the biggest bank robberies in India in recent memory, the Hindustan Times reports.

Bank workers discovered the crime Monday morning, and police say the crime was committed between Saturday night and early Monday. The identities of the perpetrators might never be discovered, as there are no security cameras inside bank strong rooms.

Police are studying security footage from the bank to try and identify suspicious persons who might have been there to “case” the facility.

The planning and execution of the crime probably took over a month, according to local police. The 125 foot long and 2.5 foot wide tunnel was dug from an abandoned building across the street from a bus stop.

In the building, police found two rooms full of dirt that had been excavated to dig the tunnel. The windows had been taped over with cardboard.

The heist quickly aroused interest, with people flocking to the bank to see the tunnel, though the police did not allow anyone inside.
