Lena Dunham Wants To Touch Your Children With Her Next Movie

Font Size:

Now that Lena Dunham is threatening to sue people for quoting her own book, in which she described her abuse of her younger sister, some of her previous pronouncements aren’t quite so adorably quirky. Incest jokes can’t be hidden behind a veil of irony, coming from someone who likened herself to a “sexual predator” in print.

Would you take your kids to see this movie? Catherine Shoard, The Guardian:

Lena Dunham is to adapt Karen Cushman’s 1994 children’s book Catherine, Called Birdy, for the big screen…

The book lends a modern-day take to the growing pains of 12-year-old Catherine, who is told by her father that she’ll have to get married when she gets her first period.

“It’s hyper realistic and really pretty and it’s full of incest and beatings, but it’s a child’s story,” said Dunham. “I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a kid.”

Gee, wonder why?

Sounds like a box-office smash. Maybe she can get Roman Polanski to direct and Stephen Collins to star.
