During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd said he believes President Barack Obama’s takeaway from his party’s loss in the 2014 midterms is that “he capitulated too much” to Congress and fellow Democrats.

TODD: The question is, everybody was wondering: what lesson was he going to take away from this? And I think what we’re learning is, the lesson he’s taken away from it… And that is: he capitulated too much to Congress, to Congressional Democrats.

MITCHELL: That’s his impression?

TODD: I think that’s his impression. I think that’s why, you wonder the actions he is taking and why is he going sit there and say ‘No, I am not giving Republicans more time on immigration,’ because he thought he shouldn’t have delayed six months ago. I think he thinks on Keystone, ‘No, I’m not going to back down. What good does backing down do me?’ The lessons he’s taken away is he’s for too long done what Congressional Democrats, what Harry Reid needs, what Nancy Pelosis need to protect Democrats on Capitol Hill. And I think he’s now starting to regret that, and he is enjoying the idea that he’s unshackled from having to worry about members of his own party.
