As the Senate vote on the authorization of the Keystone Pipeline came to a close, Senate proceedings were interrupted when a group of American Indian in the gallery began loudly protesting.

One man in a headdress, identified by Roll Call as Greg Grey Cloud of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, began with a loud tribal song that brought Senate business to a halt. Senator Elizabeth Warren, who was presiding over the Senate floor at the time, chose not to translate.

After Warren called for the man to be removed from the gallery, another group of four American Indians began chanting: “Senate Democrats. Whatcha going to do? Going to stop Keystone? Whatcha going to do?” All five were removed and arrested by Capitol police.

It’s worth noting that since that chants and songs came after Warren had already announced the bill’s failure, the protest was, well, basically pointless.
