White House press secretary Josh Earnest accidentally revealed how easy Democrats are in his press briefing Wednesday.
Earnest was asked by Reuters’ Roberta Rampton about why Republicans weren’t invited to the Wednesday dinner with President Barack Obama, and Earnest explained that, well, Democrats just have lower standards.
“If what the president wants is comprehensive reform which requires bipartisan action on the hill, why wouldn’t he invite Republicans, or some Republicans for dinner and talk to them about it too?” Rampton asked.
“Well Roberta, sadly, if it were only dinner that was required to get Republicans to act in bipartisan fashion, then we’d have passed bipartisan compromise immigration reform legislation quite some time ago,” Earnest explained.
It’ll take more than a nice dinner and some sweet talk to take a Republican home.
