Surely, President Barack Obama was pleased with his primetime address to the nation announcing his plans for executive amnesty last night.
The only person in Washington, D.C. more excited, though? Rep. Luis Gutierrez.
Gutierrez, who pushed hard for last night’s executive action, told CNN’s Chris Cuomo he was so excited with the announcement, he lost sleep.
“I had a hard time really getting to sleep last night, because I thought about all the children clinging to their parent’s legs, the families that have been fractured and divided,” said the Illinois Congressman.
“The destructiveness and corrosiveness of our broken immigration system and what it has on American families, on American citizen children and on American husbands and wives,” Gutierrez continued. “And I thought about now there is an alternative.”
