Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly have been finalized as the newest cast members for the second season of HBO’s “True Detective.”
HBO announced the news late Monday afternoon, with McAdams a rumored cast member for weeks now. She will play a detective, Ventura County Sheriff Ani Bezzerides alongside Colin Farrell’s character, Ray Velcoro, who is a corrupt cop and Vince Vaughn, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire.

The series is written and directed by Nic Pizzolatto, and will feature eight hour-long episodes. Justin Lin from the “Fast and Furious” series will direct the first two episodes.
