CNN and The Washington Post are reporting that the Ferguson grand jury investigating the shooting of black 18-year-old Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson has reached its decision.
At this time, there is no indication of how the grand jury has ruled. Ferguson and Missouri officials are reportedly getting ready to make an official announcement late Monday afternoon. Brown’s family and Wilson are both expected to be informed of the decision before the general public.
Last week, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and called up the National Guard as rumors of a coming verdict increased. The FBI likewise has warned about the potential for violence in the wake of the grand jury’s decision.
