It’s a near certainty in politics: if you want to run for president, you write a book.
(What’s less certain is whether anyone actually reads these things.)
So lo and behold, a number of potential 2016 presidential candidates are getting ready to release a book in the coming year. Here’s your guide to the upcoming avalanche of political books from presidential wannabes.
Marco Rubio
The Florida Republican will be out with a 240-page book on Jan. 15 titled, “American Dreams: Restoring Economic Opportunity for Everyone.”
“I wrote this book because we stand at a critical juncture,” Rubio wrote in a letter to supporters. “What kind of country are we going to be? Will we surrender to Obamacare and other laws that crush innovation and entrepreneurship? Will we accept a powerful nanny state and the erosion of family values? Will we allow politics to kill the American Dream? Or will we rise to the challenge—and take back our legacy as the only nation on earth that offers unrestricted opportunity to all?”
Ted Cruz
The book has no title yet, but Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has a 256-pager coming out on May 12. Amazon doesn’t offer much more details than that.
The Republican is said to have earned a $1.5 million advance for the book.
Mike Huckabee
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a 272-page book coming out on Jan. 20 called “God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy.”
Amazon describes it this way: “At times lighthearted, at others bracingly realistic, Huckabee’s brand of optimistic patriotism highlights American ideals, offering a bright outlook for future generations.”
Rand Paul
The libertarian-Republican senator from Kentucky has a book coming out June 2 titled “Taking a Stand: Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to Unite America.”
The Amazon book description: “In his four years since joining the Senate, Rand Paul has risen to the forefront of the national discussion. Now considered a major presidential contender, he’s being called the most interesting Republican because he doesn’t strictly follow the establishment. When he believes in an issue he reaches across the aisle to collaborate with his colleagues.”
Carly Fiorina
In May, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard is coming out with a 288-page book called “Rising to the Challenge.”
It’s described on Amazon as “an important blueprint for conservatives as we approach the critical elections of 2016.”
Others
Since the last presidential election, a number of other potential Republican candidates have released books, including Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Rick Santorum and Ben Carson.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, and Jim Webb have all recently penned books.
