If you’ve ever played the sport in any capacity, you’ll understand the thrill encapsulated in this “Ode to Basketball.”
It’s poetry in motion.
Basketball is the one major American sport that allows athletes to express their individual creativity.
You can’t play most sports solo — unless you’re RGIII — but you don’t need anything besides yourself and the ball to go out and shoot some hoops.
It’s more graceful than football, more dynamic than baseball. You don’t have to be good to imagine yourself as Jordan or Kobe, dominating on the court.
Hell, Prince loves to play.
Basketball is, “just another one of God’s gifts.”
If it’s good enough for Prince, it’s good enough for me.
