MoveOn.org will rally in Iowa this week as part of an ongoing effort to convince Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016.

The group plans to spend $1 million to mobilize grassroots support for Warren in Iowa and New Hampshire, and will hold a rally at a coffee shop in Iowa’s capital of Des Moines Wednesday evening, reported The Wall Street Journal. More than 81 percent of MoveOn’s members support a Warren candidacy.

Warren is a progressive favorite, who many would like to see challenge frontrunner Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. “The kickoff on Wednesday is the beginning of the effort to organize Iowans in a way that shows Sen. Warren that if she jumps into this race she’ll be a serious candidate in that state from Day One,” Ben Wikler, Washington director of MoveOn, told the Journal.

Warren has cast herself as one of the few politicians willing to fight for the middle class, in part by taking a hard line against Wall Street.

She drummed up opposition to President Obama’s nominee for a senior Treasury department post and accusing Democrats of allowing Wall Street to dominate policy decisions. And she voted against the $1.1 trillion spending bill passed by Congress this weekend, because of a provision she says benefits big banks at the expense of average Americans. Last week, 300 former Obama campaign staffers sent Warren a letter of support, urging her to run, reported The WSJ.

“I’m, I’m not running for president,” Warren said Monday when asked about the letter on National Public Radio. “That’s not what we’re doing. We had a really important fight in the United States Congress just this past week. And I’m putting all my energy into that fight and to what happens after this.”
