NBC Reporter: Taliban Surging Because US Leaving Afghanistan [VIDEO]

NBC foreign correspondent Richard Engel said on “Today” that the Taliban is growing in strength in the Middle East as a result of President Barack Obama’s decision to draw down troops in Afghanistan. (VIDEO: NBC Journo: Islamic Lone Wolf Terrorism ‘Not A Religious Issue’)

“…[T]he strength of the Taliban right now in this region, how would you describe it?” asked Matt Lauer.

“I would say it’s getting stronger,” Engel said. “It’s getting stronger because U.S. troops are drawing down. It’s like squeezing a balloon. You squeeze it in one part; it just shifts to another area. As U.S. troops draw down in Afghanistan, do fewer and fewer operations, they are able to grow in numbers, grow in strength there and operate in Pakistan as well.”
