The Oregon Ducks’ Darren Carrington has been suspended for Monday’s College Football National Championship Game against Ohio State.

The redshirt-freshman receiver did not travel with the team to Dallas after failing an NCAA administered drug test earlier in the week. Carrington caught two touchdown passes in Oregon’s Rose Bowl victory over Florida State, and he has become a favorite target of Oregon’s Heisman-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota in recent weeks.

The Ducks will find replacing Carrington a difficult task, as he isn’t the only impact player missing Monday’s game. Fellow receiver Devon Allen is also out with a knee injury sustained during the Rose Bowl, and I seriously doubt Lance Stephenson will force another game-clinching fumble for Oregon.
