The first trailer for the big screen rebirth of The Fantastic Four hit YouTube Tuesday, and gives fans their first look at director Josh Trank’s new spin on one of Marvel’s oldest superhero teams.
“Fantastic Four” marks Fox’s latest attempt to recapitalize on its Marvel franchises after the huge success of last year’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” The film’s critical and box office reception far exceeded its prior franchise installment, “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which was lambasted by fans as harshly as Fox’s previous two Fantastic Four films.
The same studio that produced “Days of Future Past” has taken the reigns on the reimagining of “Fantastic Four,” and though the familiar origin story looks standard thus far, the trailer follows the darker, serious and somber tone put forth in “Days of Future Past” — a marked step away from the superhero campiness of the first two.
