Tesla Motors’ Model X SUV, which will make its street debut later this year, was spotted in the wild this week doing some high-speed maneuvers in California.

The company’s first SUV and third production vehicle was out for a test drive at a former air naval station in Alameda, where a YouTube user captured video of it doing some high-speed acceleration, turning and braking.

Late last year, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk pushed the Model X’s release date to sometime in the latter half of 2015. The SUV uses the same dual-motor all-wheel drivetrain that powers Tesla’s latest Model S sedan, but the car has suffered a series of technical delays due in part to its unconventional gull-wing doors, according to reports.

In a letter to investors last November, Musk said Tesla would “forgo revenue, rather than bring a product to market that does not delight customers.” (RELATED: Tesla Expected To Miss Sales Forecasts Because Of Its Weird New Doors)
