Despite What These Twitter Users Thought, Indianapolis’ Darius Butler IS NOT New England’s Malcolm Butler

No one expected Patriots’ rookie Malcolm Butler to be the hero in New England’s Super Bowl victory on Sunday.

Butler saw extremely limited play in his first year as a Pat, and his goal-line interception was the first of his career. In fact, Butler’s lack of field-time caused a rather embarrassing moment for several Patriots’ “fans.”

The Foxborough faithful took to Twitter to congratulate the 24-year-cornerback by expressing their gratitude to Darius Butler, who happens to play for the Colts. Darius was actually drafted by the Patriots in 2009, but is now in his third season in Indianapolis.

Darius took a subtle shot at the Patriots — who had eliminated the Colts in the AFC Championship game — but on the whole was a good sport about the incident.
