The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is fundraising off a potential government shutdown over Department of Homeland Security funding.

“With our next budget deadline at the end of the month, John Boehner is threatening another government shutdown,” the DCCC said in a fundraising email Tuesday evening.

“Two years ago, Boehner chose to kowtow to his Tea Party majority and shut down the government to teach President Obama a “lesson.” And now Boehner is still trying to strip the president of his constitutional powers by shuttering Homeland Security.”

“Seriously, this is just plain dangerous. We can’t let Republicans throw a temper tantrum and shut down an essential part of the government just because things aren’t going the way they wanted.”

Fortunately, a fundraising button in the email is there to foil Boehner and save the day: “If you want to stop Boehner from putting politics before the safety of millions of Americans, sign your name:”
