The rapper who goes by “Afroman” was booked on assault charges Tuesday night after he punched a woman onstage during his concert in Biloxi, Miss.
The “Because I Got High” singer had just started his solo when the female fan got up on stage and started dancing near him. Almost instinctively, he turned around and punched her, then went back to performing his solo. The house lights turned on and the music quit playing, and the woman was bleeding and crying.
His representatives blamed poor security.
“This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space,” his representative said in a statement.
“It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”
He was released after paying $330 bond.
