Jeb Bush ‘Unelectable,’ Says Conservative Group

The conservative nonprofit advocacy group ForAmerica released an online video Thursday calling Jeb Bush “unelectable,” arguing he is the wrong Republican to run against Hillary Clinton for president in 2016.

The video is another sign of the struggles the former Florida governor will have with some conservative activists if he runs for the White House, as expected.

The group argues that Bush’s praising of Clinton’s public service during a 2013 ceremony will make it difficult for him to criticize her in a campaign.

Specifically, ForAmerica’s video references the 2012 terrorist attacks that killed America’s ambassador in Benghazi, Libya, what has been the most problematic part of Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.

At the 2013 Liberty Medal Ceremony, Bush spoke as Clinton was awarded the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal. The group notes that the ceremony was about a year after the Benghazi attacks.

“It’s bad enough that Hillary Clinton will likely use footage from this event against any Republican nominee, but if Jeb Bush is her opponent she will make him look ridiculous,” said ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell.

“As it stands,” Bozell said, “Jeb has absolutely no credibility to criticize her because he has already anointed her as a great public servant; and he inexplicably did so almost a year to the day of the Benghazi massacre. He will lose, and the public will have to suffer at least another four years of Obama’s policies – and anything worse she has in store for America.”

ForAmerica said it will promote the ad on its Facebook page, which has over 7. 1 million followers.
