The political Twittersphere had fun inventing potential email addresses after the news broke that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had violated federal regulations by using a personal email.

But muckraker website The Smoking Gun got its hands on the actual address: hdr22@clintonemail.com.

The choice of the initials “HDR” is interesting. Clearly, they stand for “Hillary Diane Rodham,” Clinton’s maiden name.

But Hillary hasn’t gone by her maiden name since 1982 when it became a political liability for her husband.

Today, she is much more known for the initials HRC, to the extent that it was the title of a book about her by Bloomberg’s Jonathan Allen.

Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, even joked about the initials in a speech to the Human Rights Campaign. “I love the HRC,” he said to laughter, “The initials are great.”

The domain name Clintonemail.com wasn’t registered until 2009, presumably for the express purpose of giving Hillary an email to use. So why, 27 years after changing her name, is Hillary going around using her maiden name?

As for the number “22,” we can only guess.

But The Daily Caller would be much remiss if it didn’t point out that Monica Lewinsky was 22 years old when her affair with Bill Clinton began.
