A Georgia police officer was faced with a difficult situation Monday: What do you do when an unarmed naked man charges you?

A white, seven-year veteran of DeKalb County Police fired two fatal shots at a naked, unarmed black man. The man, identified as Anthony Hill, allegedly charged the officer and ignored orders to stop, WSBTV-2 reports.

Police told USA Today the officer was issued a tazer and pepper spray but used his gun instead.

The naked man can be seen on video exhibiting strange behavior outside an apartment complex before he was shot.

WATCH:

“The caller reported a male acting deranged, knocking on doors and crawling around on the ground naked,” DeKalb County Police Chief Dr. Cedric Alexander said in a press conference.

Police responded to a 911 call about the man and found him naked in the parking lot. The man allegedly ran at a police officer, who stepped back and commanded him to stop before firing two shots. The man died at the scene.

Police say no weapon was recovered at the scene and that the man was apparently unarmed. The officer involved is on paid leave while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation looks into the case.

Whether the officer could have used lesser force, such as the tazer or pepper spray, will be investigated.

DeKalb County Police did not return The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.
