This Lenten season, one Huffington Post op-ed wants you to take the time to “Thank God for Abortion Providers” and the “important ministries” they provide. (RELATED: Huffington Post Op-Ed: Check Your ‘Marital Privilege,’ Married Couples)

Harry Knox, CEO of Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), begins by praising the work of George Tiller, the notorious late-term abortionist who was murdered in 2007. “He died for his faith that God loves those of us who have abortions,” Knox laments. “He died a martyr… the American flag that draped his coffin adorns RCRC’s conference room as a holy relic.”

“Every day doctors, nurses, medical assistants, abortion doulas, and receptionists risk their lives to make sure that those of us seeking an abortion are met with compassion and love,” he continued. “I thank God for abortion providers.” (RELATED: Salon: Rape Is ‘Intrinsic To Religion’ And God Raped Mary)

Abortionists, Knox writes are simply offering their “important ministries” every time they terminate a pregnancy. “Thank God for the compassion they show those of us seeking abortions. Thank God for the martyrs. Thank God for their courage. Thank God for abortion providers.”

RCRC is a coalition of religious organizations and denominations that support abortion. Affiliates include the Episcopal Church, the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), Catholics for Choice, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the United Church of Christ, and the Anti-Defamation League.
