New video shows a vicious fight in a Philadelphia subway that could have easily spilled onto the deadly train tracks. One attacker even appears to smile before launching the brutal beating.

Police released surveillance video this week in an effort to find a group of attackers who brutally jumped a man waiting at the subway Thursday at the SEPTA Walnut-Locust Station at around 4:15 p.m, Philly.com reports.

The video shows about 10 young black men surround an apparently unsuspecting man before they pounce on him. Several men punch the victim in the head and body as he covers his head with his hands and tries to get away in a crouched run.

The attackers chase him, continually pummeling him as he fights through the crowd of assailants. Many people nearby come dangerously close to falling onto the tracks.

After the attack the victim was treated at the hospital with multiple injuries.
