The oldest person in the world passed away Wednesday morning of natural causes. Misao Okawa of Japan was 117-years old.

Okawa, who was born on March 5, 1898, celebrated her 117th birthday a little less than a month ago.

Okawa passed away peacefully at her nursing home in Osaka, Japan. According to NBC News, Okawa’s nurses were worried about her, as she had started to eat less recently.

When the AP interviewed her on her past birthday, Okawa said of her 117 years, “it seemed rather short.”

Okawa was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest person in 2013. She leaves behind three children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her eldest son is 92 years old.
