Wrapping up the week on “Special Report,” columnist Charles Krauthammer remarked that Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif is the week’s winner after striking a framework deal with the U.S. Thursday.
Krauthammer told host Bret Baier that Zarif if “the happiest man on the planet” following making a tentative deal with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, which could lead to a final deal being struck in June.
“The Iranian Foreign Minister, this is the winner,” Krauthammer said. “He’s the happiest man on the planet, and he received a Charles Lindbergh reception upon his return home.”
On the other side, he conservative commentator said Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was the week’s loser, saying his 2016 chances are shot irregardless of whether he was right or wrong by signing the religious freedom law last week.
“Loser: Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Whatever the rights or wrongs, whatever the virtues of the bill that he originally passed, his clumsy handling of it has cost him any chance of entering, apart from winning, the Republican nomination in 2016,” Krauthammer said.
