Principal Arrested For PADDLING FEMALE TEACHER As Punishment

Police in a small Louisiana town have arrested an assistant principal at a public school for allegedly spanking a female teacher with a paddle — on the buttocks — to punish her.

The assistant principal is Hugo Vogel, reports The Town Talk, the major newspaper in central Louisiana.

The unidentified teacher said the incident occurred back on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Vogel, 64, and the teacher are employees at the Frankie Ray Jackson Sr. Technical Center in Natchitoches, La. The Natchitoches Parish School District educational facility serves students with special needs, students with disabilities and previously expelled students.

Vogel faces a criminal charge of simple battery.

Natchitoches Parish school district superintendent Jesse Dale Skinner announced on Tuesday that he placed the assistant principal on paid leave for one day. However, since the battery charge against Vogel is just a misdemeanor, Skinner allowed Vogel to return to work on Wednesday morning.

“I wasn’t sure what the charges were. I had heard, but I didn’t know, and therefore, I put him on leave until I could find out what exactly was going on,” Skinner told regional ABC affiliate KLTV.

“We probably have several people working for us that’s been charged with misdemeanor sometime or the other,” the superintendent proclaimed.

The circumstances which would have led an adult official at a taxpayer-funded public school to paddle an adult teacher, and which led the teacher to accept that punishment, remain unclear.

Vogel was released on Monday on a minuscule bond after his arrest.

The Frankie Ray Jackson Sr. Technical Center appears to be a pretty brutal, paddle-happy place.

The school’s principal, Bobby Joe Benjamin, Jr., was arrested just last month on charges that he abused an 11-year-old student.

Specifically, the boy’s mother has claimed, Benjamin smashed his head against a wall, punched him and also gave him a paddling.

Benjamin, 41, faces a handful of charges including aggravated battery, according to Shreveport ABC affiliate KTBS. He is currently free on bond.

Unlike Vogel, the principal is on leave from his job.
