Bryan Sperry had one hell of a weekend.

The 89-year-old World War II veteran played college football at the University of Kansas back in the 1940s, and he took part in the the Jayhawks’ annual spring-game festivities on Saturday nearly 70 years after hanging up his cleats.

Sperry originally began his career at Kansas State but was forced to leave after his freshman year because of — you know — the war. He transferred to KU after returning home from kicking Hitler’s ass, and Bryan closed Saturday’s alumni-scrimmage with a thrilling touchdown run.

Ok, so it maybe it wasn’t that exciting, but that doesn’t make the moment any less special for Sperry. “That was fun,” he told the Kansas City Star. “I didn’t know if I could run.”
