Who says dreams can’t happen at NBC’s “TODAY” Show?
Savannah Guthrie, who was born in Melbourne, Australia, got to broadcast live from the Opera House in Sydney Monday. She says it was a dream to return to her birth country.
The voyage was organized by government tourism operator Destination NSW.
A story in The Daily Telegraph explains that Guthrie was born there because her late father was there for business.
Guthrie went sans makeup for her long plane ride to Australia.
“Makeup off. Glasses on. Just 15 hours between me and Australia now!” she wrote on Instagram, late explaining to The Telegraph that she usually doesn’t wear makeup. “I always think it is funny when people are surprised that you post a picture without make-up because that is how I am most of the time,” she said.
Guthrie traveled to Australia with her mother Nancy.
Her baby daughter, Vale, and husband, Mike Feldman are back home.
