MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell said on “Andrea Mitchell Reports” Tuesday that former President Bill Clinton was “lashing out” at critics in an interview with NBC News, while her guest noted he “did not do [Hillary] any favors.” (VIDEO: Bill Clinton: Clinton Foundation Has Never Done Anything ‘Knowingly Inappropriate’)

MITCHELL: This whole question of trust, it is showing erosion in our NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Now only 25 percent of those polled say that she is honest and trustworthy. And this is after she has been hammered by the book that is officially coming out today, Clinton Cash. What are people here saying about this?

COLUMNIST JON RALSTON: Well, I think the same thing as they are everywhere, they are concerned about it. Democrats try to slough it off, right, but you have to be concerned.

And her husband did not do her any favors with that interview in Africa, where he said ‘I got to pay our bills, blame the media,’ says there’s no facts to support this. And of course this is probably not going to be helped, as you well know, once she goes and testifies before that committee in just a couple weeks about Benghazi.

This is something that clearly they’re glad is happening May of 2015, as opposed to September of 2016. But they have to do something about this, and that’s why that campaign you alluded to has started.

MITCHELL: …The interview, of course, was NBC’s exclusive interview that Cynthia McFadden conducted. And Bill Clinton, defensive, lashing out at critics.
