The Louisville Metro Police Department arrested three individuals Monday in connection to the murder of 49-year-old Scott Hunter after the Kentucky Derby Saturday.

Hunter was allegedly murdered while returning to his hotel. According to LMPD spokesman Lt. Todd Kessinger, Fahed Abu-Diab, his sister Fatima Abu-Diab and her boyfriend Tyrone Thomas, Jr. were arrested after receiving an anonymous tip.

The trio committed a robbery spree targeting Derby patrons, at which point they encountered Hunter, “walking on the side of the road” said Kessinger. “They went to rob both victims and, during the robbery, there was a struggle, at which time they fired a shot and killed the victim.”

In addition to the near dozen robbery charges filed against the trio, Louisville Metro Police told TheDC Fahed Abu-Diab and Thomas will, “both [be] charged with murder in connection to Hunter’s death.” Additionally, Fatima Abu-Diab will be charged with complicity to murder and possession of a controlled substance.

This isn’t Fahed Abu-Diab’s first run-in with the law. Back in February, he was connected to the shooting death of an 18-year-old male, but the incident would eventually be ruled a justifiable homicide.
