An aide to rising Democratic star Kamala Harris stands accused of operating a supposedly 3,000-year-old rogue police force that claims jurisdiction in 33 states.

Members of The Masonic Fraternal Police Department claim the force was established by the Knight’s Templars in 1100 B.C. and “provides services” to half a million members in the 33 jurisdictions, and to other fraternities, sororities and Greek organizations, according to the group’s website.

“We were here first!” the group declares when asked what distinguishes it from other police forces. But they do support “all law agencies,” and sign off on the site with a “God Bless the United States of America!!!!!”

Police arrested Brandon Kiel, 31, last week under suspicion he impersonated an officer through his role in the force and alleged he misused his government identification, reported the Los Angeles Times. Kiel is an aide to Harris, who is running for retiring Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer’s seat.

Police became suspicious of Kiel after a man claiming to be Kiel described himself as the police force’s “chief deputy director” called law enforcement agencies to schedule in-person meetings. They had been warned in a prior letter that the force had a new leader.

Investigators reportedly found badges, weapons, uniforms and law enforcement paraphernalia in a search of two sites in Santa Clarita.

Kiel and two others were arrested and later released Thursday. An office spokesman declined to comment to the Times, but said Kiel is on administrative leave.
