American Family Association Says Townhall Must Replace Guy Benson Because He’s Gay

American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer is calling for the firing of Townhall political editor Guy Benson for being gay. Or, as he puts it, a “homosexual” who is trying to turn the GOP into “a sodomy-promoting political machine.”

Maybe someone should stuff this guy into a closet until the election is over?

Let’s get Fischer’s credentials straight (pun intended).

He’s the former Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association. He hosts the talk radio program “Focal Point” on American Family Radio and he posts on the AFA-run blog Instant Analysis.

So yes, his whacked out views definitely reflect the American Family Association no matter the bizarre disclosure at the bottom of his dense essay on Benson that states: Unless otherwise noted, the opinions expressed are the author’s and do not necessarily reflect the American Family Association or American Family Radio.

Benson drew the ire of Fischer because in an upcoming book, the journalist has disclosed himself as gay.

Fischer, who has never met Benson, appears to speak for the entire Republican Party as well as the American Family Associate when he says Benson seems intent on turning “the GOP into a sodomy-promoting political machine.”

After that brick through the window, he tosses out a few complimentary crumbs so he doesn’t look like too much of an asshole.

“Benson is young, smart, and articulate and often appears on Fox News as a pundit on all manner of political issues,” he wrote. “This makes him particularly dangerous to the conservative cause.”

He also tried to cushion the blow (not that kind of blow).

“Now I don’t know Mr. Benson, and he certainly seems like a particularly nice and friendly individual,” he continued. “But this is not about his personality. It’s about his politics.”

Fischer then argued that Salem Media Group, which owns Townhall, ought to can Benson. After all, he says, Salem pushes Christian and family-themed content. How could they pay Benson to work there when he’s an “openly homosexual activist?”

Fischer says Benson “must be replaced” because “his values on homosexuality are not Christian, family-themed, or conservative.”

He added that there is nothing “conservative” about the “homosexuality or homosexual agenda.”

To put hit bluntly, he writes — uh oh, hide the children — conservative values do not include “promoting unnatural sexual expression.”

Thankfully, he doesn’t embarrass himself any further by getting too in the weeds of that, but he says that “natural marriage” is an institution that “God designed and defined at the dawn of time.”
