Back before he admitted to donating $75,000 to the much-scrutinized Clinton Foundation, ABC “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos said on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” that obviously donors to the Clinton Foundation had a hope their donation was “going to lead to something.”

“This is a tough one,” Stephanopolous told host Jon Stewart. “Because when you look closely at it, [Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer] even says there’s no evidence of any direct action taken on behalf of the donors.”

“But everybody also knows, when those donors give that money and President Clinton or someone, they get a picture with him, there’s a hope that that’s going to lead to something, and that’s what you have to be careful of,” he added. All of which begs the question: what did Stephanopolous think his fifty thousand dollars was “going to lead to” in return?
