Earlier this week, the New Orleans Pelicans fired former head coach Monty Williams, but it doesn’t look like the team will have to look very far for a replacement.
On Wednesday, TMZ caught up with with Louisiana Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond, and he says he knows at least one qualified candidate: himself.
“I could coach the team,” he told TMZ. “With [Anthony Davis], I can build a winning team around him all day long.”

If Richmond were to somehow land the job, he’d have his work cut out for him. The Pelicans’ 2015 playoff-berth was its first since 2011, and that only came off a last second, desperation 3-pointer from All-Star center Anthony Davis.
