A former city council candidate and son of the infamous “Mayor For Life” Marion Barry said he will take a plea deal for his violent eruption at a downtown D.C. bank in January.

Marion Christopher Barry allegedly became upset with a bank teller after she refused to grant his request to withdraw a large sum of money from his bank account, NBC Washington reported.

According to police reports, Barry tried to withdraw $20,000 but the teller told him his account was already overdrawn. Barry then asked for $6,000, but was again told that he had no money in his account.

After giving up on the cash withdrawal, Barry threatened the teller, allegedly telling her, “I’m going to have someone waiting for you when you get off, you bitch.”

Before leaving, Barry threw a trash can over a bullet-proof glass panel at a different bank teller, destroying a surveillance camera in the process.

Barry originally faced charges for simple assault, destruction of property and attempted threats to do bodily harm, but The U.S. Attorney’s office in the district filed a motion to cancel Barry’s trial Monday after the two sides struck a plea deal, The Washington Post reported.

His arrest came just a week after he announced his candidacy for the city council seat vacated when his father passed away in November of last year. Barry’s chances didn’t look good before the bank incident, but he stayed in the race, eventually finishing sixth in a crowded race with just 7.5 percent of the vote.

Already on probation for a 2014 DUI charge he pleaded guilty to, he would not qualify for a pre-trial intervention program which would net him community service hours.

When he was first charged, Barry pleaded not guilty and requested a trial date, which would have taken place Wednesday. Barry will be in court Wednesday, but instead of a trial it will be for a plea hearing.
