A man who goes by the name Peach Cobbler has been following my work for nearly a decade. I like to think of him as president of my fan club. When I worked at The Hill he used to painstakingly analyze my stories line by line, saying why each graph was dumber than the next. He was my Secret Mean Editor and he didn’t care about my feelings. I like to think Peach helped toughen me up along the way. He always referred to me as an intern. He’d ask constantly, “When is your internship over?”
These days I hear from him every several months.
