Pop princess Taylor Swift donated $15k to a Houston family struggling to pay their medical bills after a severe car accident, according to Billboard.

On June 6, volunteer firefighter Aaron Van Riper responded to a call about a car crash. When he arrived on the scene, Van Riper was surprised to discover that it was his son and wife who were severely injured in the collision.

Both were airlifted to Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston. On Sunday, Van Riper’s wife, Amber, who was thrown from the vehicle in the collision, endured nine hours of surgery to repair her pelvis, which was broken in five different places.

Their son, Jonathon, nicknamed “Bear,” who was discovered “pinned between the dash and the passenger’s seat,” was released from the hospital, reported KHOU.

Both will return home in wheelchairs.

But Van Riper and his family don’t have insurance, making the cost of medical bills that have been building up difficult to cover, thus prompting friends to create a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the family’s recovery.

In just four days, 2,352 people have helped to raise nearly $103,000 of the page’s $125,000 goal.

“Not a lot of people are just gonna drop that,” VanRiper said to KHOU about Swift’s donation. “If it is her, I thank her from the bottom of my heart. She’s an amazing person.”

The family is thankful for the help they have received.
