It was only a matter of time before the bizarre saga of Rachel Dolezal became a foil for taking swipes at those who oppose other progressive causes. The first out of the box is climate change.
Adhering to the philosophy of “never letting a good crisis go to waste,” Comedy Central host Larry Wilmore used Dolezal’s revelation to compare her pretending to be black to climate change denial.
Regarding Dolezal’s claim that she is African-American because “We’re all from the African continent,” Wilmore told his audience, “Let me see if I can clarify that. It is her opinion that she is black. Much like climate change denial, this is not based on science,” Wilmore said.
