Seattle Sounders team captain Clint Dempsey was ejected from a U.S. Open Cup match Tuesday after slapping a notebook from the referee’s hands, picking it up and then tearing it up.
The ejection was the third of the game for the Sounders, who lost 3-1 to rival Portland Timbers, USA Today’s For The Win blog reports.
Dempsey was irked at the ejection of teammate Michael Ariza.
