Donald Trump announced he was running for president with Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” playing in the background, and shortly after Young put out a statement that said Trump was not allowed to use his song — because he was voting for someone else.
“Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement,” Young said in a statement. “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.”
Now Trump is calling the singer a “total hypocrite.” (RELATED: Hillary’s Got A Friend: James Taylor Backs Clinton For President)
.@Neilyoung A few months ago Neil Young came to my office looking for $$ on an audio deal & called me last week to go to his concert. Wow!

.@Neilyoung’s song, “Rockin’ In The Free World” was just one of 10 songs used as background music. Didn’t love it anyway.
