Larry King doesn’t tend to hold back in expressing himself. At 81, secrets aren’t his thing. So what’s his view on presidential candidate Donald Trump, who is one step away from being the GOP frontrunner in the New Hampshire polls? (RELATED: Don’t Be Late To Larry King’s Funeral)

“He’s not going to be president,” King said in an interview with Dave Rubin of “Rubin Report.”  “…Donald could not stand going into a primary and losing. Because that ego couldn’t take a defeat.”

King speaks of Trump from an expert perch.

“Donald is an old friend of mine,” he told Rubin. “There are two sides to Donald. He’s a good person. He’s a great father … If you were in trouble you could go to him…Donald has a good heart. Donald has an incredible ego … there’s no cut off from brain to mouth.”

What about some of the more shocking statements Trump has made?

“He’ll be refreshing .. however demented some of it may be, he will tell you exactly what he thinks about his fellow Republicans,” he said. “If I were a Republican candidate now, I would not look forward to this.”

King called Trump a “cake” of an interview. “I think he’s delightful,” he said.
