The U.S Supreme Court issued an order Monday afternoon blocking Texas from enforcing laws that abortion clinics claimed would force them out of operation.

The order, was passed 5-4, with Chief Justice Roberts, and Justices Scalia, Alito, and Thomas dissenting. This one paragraph order forces Texas to keep those laws at bay, until the court decides whether or not to rule on their constitutionally.

The court did not explain in the order why they were postponing the new provisions. If they deny a review of the law, the order will be lifted; if they decide to review it, it will remain in effect until their final ruling.

One of the laws required all abortion clinics to have facilities equal to a surgical center, while the other required doctors performing abortions to have the right to send patients to a nearby hospital.

The U.S Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit previously upheld both laws.
