Following a week where the Supreme Court handed down two landmark decisions, Obama’s approval rating is at 50 percent, the highest in two years, according to a CNN/ORC poll.

The Supreme Court upheld necessary subsidies for the Affordable Care Act and legalized gay marriage, two wins for the Obama administration. His numbers are above 50 percent for the first time since May 18, 2013.

While 91 percent of blacks approve of his presidency, a meager 39 percent of whites approve. His approval rating among whites hasn’t pushed above 50 percent since 2009.

The poll also shows the vast majority of Americans, 74 percent, say racial discrimination against African-Americans in the U.S. is a very serious problem, up from 57 percent five years ago.

Forty-three percent of Americans think race relations have gotten worse since Obama took office. Twenty percent think matters have improved.

The poll measured reactions from July 26-28 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
